Scott has taught private guitar lessons in Westminster, Maryland since 2001. He specializes in teaching beginning middle and high school aged students. He holds a Master's of Music Education degree from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Towson University.

Middle and High School Age
Young students quickly learn and play music. By starting young, students develop musical skills that will last a lifetime. During lessons, students learn correct guitar playing technique, how to read music, music theory, and how to use chords to accompany songs. The goal of each lesson is to learn, to play and to enjoy the skills we have acquired during lessons. (Students who are 11 years old and older may start lessons.)
If you are a singer and already play guitar and would like to either perform in public for the first time or gain more confidence for public performances, Scott will work with you to develop a short set of songs. He will accompany you on guitar at a local open mic venue for your performance debut or confidence building performance. You take it from there! Scott holds a Master's of Music Education from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. He is a former student of Ronald Pearl. He has been an adjunct faculty member in the music department at Carroll Community College and a middle school music educator in Carroll and Harford county public schools. He was a private guitar instructor at Coffey Music in Westminster, MD from 2001 - 2022. Currently, he is a member of the advisory board for Carroll Music Teachers.
