Scott Zimmerman has been involved in music education in the Maryland area for over 10 years. Mr. Zimmerman holds an A.A. Degree in Music Education from Frederick Community College, a B.S. Degree in Music Education from Towson University, and has studied classical guitar with Ronald Pearl. Currently, he is in the process of completing his Master’s Degree in Music Education from the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University.
Mr. Zimmerman has taught music classes and lead choral and guitar ensembles in the Harford and Carroll County public school systems. While at Sykesville Middle school in Carroll County, he jointly developed a guitar program to specifically assist at-risk students. The program continues today under the direction of Mrs. Debra Paulsgrove. The guitar program has had many successes. One former “guitar club” member currently attends Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
Currently, Mr. Zimmerman maintains a private guitar studio in Westminster, Maryland. Students range in age from 6 years to adult and are exposed to a variety of musical styles with an emphasis placed on developing sound technique and music reading skills. Students are given the opportunity to perform in a spring recital as well as ensemble experiences throughout the year.
In addition to maintaining his private guitar studio, Mr. Zimmerman is a member of the Carroll Community College Music Department faculty. He directs the guitar ensemble and teaches music appreciation and private guitar instruction.
